Replacing standard navigation with expedition-themed terms like “Base Camp,” “Panorama,” and “Peaks” transforms a highly technical immunogenomics site into a grand, shared adventure. This editorial approach evokes a sense of awe and ambition. It reframes complex research on the non-coding regulatory genome from a daily job into a collective climb to new heights.
Design and organization
The Mahat Lab works on complex science, including CRISPR screens, single-cell RNA sequencing, and machine learning. To make this research accessible, we designed a clean, minimalist layout that prevents information overload.
By breaking the lab’s mission down into clear goals visitors can quickly understand the big picture. The simple design keeps the focus entirely on the science, while custom illustrations visually anchor the lab’s core research.
